Long Division Worksheets Grade 4: Printable Practice
These long division worksheets grade 4 help students build confidence with multi-digit division. Learners practice dividing whole numbers by one-digit divisors, recording remainders, and checking answers with multiplication.
Long Division Worksheets Grade 4: How to Use These Pages
First, model the steps on scrap paper. Next, solve each problem in order and show the quotient and any remainder. The answer keys appear at the end of this page, so students can complete the practice before checking their work. Finally, discuss any errors and try a similar problem again.
Long Division Worksheets Grade 4: Skills and Standards
These pages develop division fluency and careful mathematical reasoning. Students will practice:
- Dividing two-, three-, and four-digit whole numbers by one-digit divisors.
- Using place value to record each step of long division.
- Writing quotients with remainders and checking with multiplication.
- Interpreting remainders in everyday situations.
Common Core connection: 4.NBT.B.6 asks students to find whole-number quotients and remainders with up to four-digit dividends and one-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, properties of operations, or the relationship between multiplication and division. 4.OA.A.3 supports solving multi-step whole-number word problems and interpreting remainders.
Suggested method: Divide, multiply, subtract, and bring down the next digit. Repeat until no digits remain. Check by multiplying the quotient by the divisor, then adding the remainder.

Long Division Worksheets Grade 4: FAQs
What should a fourth grader know about long division? Students should work toward dividing up to four-digit whole numbers by one-digit divisors and explaining remainders.
How can students check a long division answer? Multiply the quotient by the divisor, then add the remainder. The result should equal the dividend.
What does a remainder mean? A remainder is the amount left after making as many equal groups as possible. It must be smaller than the divisor.
Do these pages include division word problems? Yes. The word-problem sets ask students to divide quantities into equal groups and interpret any leftovers.
Conclusion
Regular practice helps students become more accurate and independent with division. Use one level at a time, then revisit the mixed set to strengthen flexible thinking. Explore related Math Obsession lessons and printable worksheets for more grade-level practice.
